Bethel Baptist Church Thrift Cooperative Society (BTC) was born out of the vision of Bethel Baptist Church to create a financial ministry that promotes integrity, mutual support, and financial empowerment. Its roots go back to 1985 with the Bethel Thrift Club, which was transformed into a fully registered cooperative in 2004 to coincide with the church’s 50th anniversary. Since then, BTC has stood as a testament to faith, community, and financial stewardship.  As a savings and loans ministry, BTC provides members with accessible financial services, including savings accounts, loans, and insurance products. Guided by the principles of probity, integrity, and mutuality, the cooperative has consistently opened doors for those underserved by traditional financial institutions, while maintaining the highest standards of financial management.

Over the past two decades, BTC has grown from 35 members to more than 1,500, with permanent shares expanding from a modest $13 to over $1.59 million, voluntary shares surpassing $240 million, and a loan portfolio of more than $200 million. This growth reflects not only sound governance and dedicated staff but also the unwavering support of its membership which finds in BTC an organization that has strong management and a member-centered approach in its operations.  Always finding the appropriate financial and insurance solution.

Today, BTC spans well beyond its early membership from Bethel Baptist Church and is recognized as a dynamic, reliable, and customer-friendly financial institution. It continues to live out its mission of being its members’ “savings, loans, and insurance partners,” while embodying the vision of a cooperative that serves both spiritual and financial well-being.
